==Capacity Management in den ITSM-Frameworks==<br />
<br />
Capacity Management ist ein wichtiges Thema in allen Service-Management-Frameworks und &#8209;Standards. Zum Beispiel<br />
* enthält [[ITIL#ITIL_4|ITIL 4]] die Practice '[[YaSM_und_ITIL#ITIL-4-Capacity-and-performance-management|Capacity und Performance Management]]',<br />
* definiert ITIL V3 das [[YaSM_und_ITIL_V3#yasm-vs-itil-capacity-management|Kapazitäts-Management als einen Prozess]] im Service-Lifecycle,<br />
* wird Capacity Management in SIAM als Prozess in einem SIAM-Ecosystem aufgeführt,<br />
* ist Capacity Management in VeriSM ein Element in den High-Level Stages für Services,<br />
* und ISO 20000 spezifiziert Anforderungen für das [[ISO_20000_-_2018#Angebot-und-Nachfrage|Managen von Service-Kapazität und &#8209;Performance]].<br />

Gemäß ITIL<sup><small>&#174;</small></sup> 4 geht es beim Capacity Management darum, "sicherzustellen, dass die Services die vereinbarte und erwartete Performance erreichen, und dass die aktuelle und künftige Nachfrage nach den Services auf kosteneffektive Weise erfüllt wird". Dies bedeutet im Wesentlichen<br />
* vorherzusagen, wieviel Kapazität für das Erbringen der Services benötigt wird,<br />
* zu bestimmen, wie die erforderlichen Ressourcen auf möglichst wirtschaftliche Weise zur Verfügung gestellt werden können<br />
* und die Servicekapazitäten laufend zu überwachen und ggf. anzupassen.<br />

==Kapazitätsmanagement - ein schwieriger Prozess?==<br />
<br />
Es ist also weithin akzeptiert, dass das Managen der Service-Kapazitäten für jeden Service-Provider ein zentrales Thema ist. Trotzdem finden es viele Organisationen schwierig, Capacity Management in der Praxis zu implementieren.<br />
<br />
Der Grund dafür liegt vermutlich in der Art, wie es dargestellt wird: Kapazitätsmanagement wird in der Regel als eigener Prozess oder spezielle Practice beschrieben - mit eigenen Plänen und Berichten. Es gibt überdurchschnittlich viele Schnittstellen mit anderen Prozessen, denn das Kapazitäts-Management muss immer dann aktiv werden, wenn es um Fragen der Service-Kapazität und &#8209;Performance geht.<br />
<br />
In diesem Dickicht von Schnittstellen ist es nicht einfach zu verstehen, wie alle Prozesse zusammenarbeiten sollen. Das macht es schwierig, in der Praxis funktionierende Prozesse zu definieren.<br />

==Capacity und Performance Management in YaSM==<br />

Um diese Probleme in YaSM zu umschiffen, haben wir beschlossen, dass das Capacity Management kein eigenständiger [[Service-Management-Prozesse|Service-Management-Prozess]] sein muss. Stattdessen behandelt YaSM Service-Kapazität und &#8209;Performance als Aspekte, die in allen [[Service-Management-Prozesse#Service-Lifecycle-Prozesse|Phasen des Service-Lifecycles]] zu berücksichtigen sind - also z.B. bei der Service-Definition, während des Betriebs und bei der kontinuierlichen Verbesserung der Services:<br />
<br />
* So gibt es im [[LP1:_Festlegen_der_strategischen_Richtung|Strategie-Prozess]] und im [[LP2:_Designen_neuer_oder_geänderter_Services|Service-Design]] Aktivitäten, um die erwartete Nachfrage nach Services abzuschätzen und um daraus die Anforderungen an Service-Kapazität und &#8209;Performance festzulegen.<br />
* Während des [[LP4:_Betreiben_der_Services|Service-Betriebs]] werden Service-Kapazität und &#8209;Performance regelmäßig gemessen.<br />
* Falls Kapazitäts-Engpässe festgestellt werden, werden Korrekturmaßnahmen ergriffen - entweder als Teil der routinemäßigen Betriebsaufgaben oder in Form von [[LP5:_Verbessern_der_Services#LP5.3|Service-Verbesserungs-Initiativen]].<br />
<br />
Auf diese Weise sind die Aktivitäten zum Managen der Service-Kapazität in die [[Service-Management-Prozesse#Service-Lifecycle-Prozesse|Service-Lifecycle-Prozesse]] eingebettet, und es gibt keine unnötigen Prozess-Schnittstellen, die die Abläufe verkomplizieren. Mit diesem Konzept ist es nicht allzu schwierig, vernünftige Kapazitätsmanagement-Mechanismen in der Organisation zu implementieren.<br />
<br />
Übrigens ist die Art und Weise, wie das Capacity Management in YaSM gehandhabt wird, durchaus auf einer Linie mit den neuesten Service-Management-Frameworks. ITIL 4 beschreibt Capacity Management zum Beispiel als eine Practice und zählt die wichtigsten Aktivitäten auf. Es wird jedoch nicht gesagt, dass Capacity Management ein Prozess sein muss. Vielmehr sind Service-Provider frei, maßgeschneiderte Prozesse zu definieren, die für die Organisation funktionieren. <br />
